Kamal plans Viswaroopam’s climax

Kamal Haasan has just returned from the US after successfully canning some important scenes for Viswaroopam. Apart from playing the lead role in the film, Kamal also doubles up as the director. He is now planning to shoot the climax of Viswaroopam.
Sources close to the team say that Kamal wants to shoot the climax of Viswaroopam in Delhi and all arrangements for this is being made. Viswaroopam stars Pooja Kumar, Isha Sharvani and Andrea in the lead roles. The film has been shot extensively in US, UK, Jordan and several parts of India.
Official sources say that the budget of this film is expected to cross over 100 crores!

Saguni and 3’s release stands postponed following the new rules that the Producers’ Council has brought in. As per the new rule, all films that has leading stars in the industry should release only on the five festive days – Pongal, Tamil New Years Day, May Day, Independence Day, and Diwali.
Following this condition, it has been decided to postpone Karthi’s Saguni and Dhanush’s 3 to April 13th. Saguni is directed by newbie Shankar Dayal and 3 has been directed by debut director Aishwarya Dhanush. It may be mentioned here that both the films were slated for release in February.

Two-acre land destroyed for Prabhu Solomon’s Kumki
Kumki, directed by the Mynaa fame Prabhu Solomon, is about elephants. The film has Vikram Prabhu, son of actor Prabhu, in the lead role with Lakshmi Menon playing his love interest. In this film, Vikram Prabhu plays a mahout.
Prabhu Solomon has said that Kumki is based on several real-life incidents in which elephants create havoc by killing people or ruining the lands. The climax portions of this film are being shot and for this, a two-acre agricultural land has been purchased by the producer. Since the elephants will be shown destroying the agricultural lands, it was decided to acquire the land for shooting this scene.

It is not just the actor trio of Vijay-Jiiva-Srikanth or director Shankar that are reaping rich rewards for the huge success of Nanban. Almost everyone associated with the movie is receiving accolades from all over. Lyricist Viveka who penned the much loved ‘Yen frienda pola yaaru’ song is the centre of attraction for many people now as his song is becoming quite a rage in the social media, for its words. Speaking about this unprecedented success, Viveka said that he had received offers to pen lyrics for 20 films immediately after the release of Nanban. Over and above that he has 80 movies with songs of his that are waiting for release, including big ticket films like Maattran, Singam 2 and Aravaan.

He said that the success of the song had made many people ask him about his friends. He recalled one Murugesan who is now a professor in SSN college Chennai. However, he said that all these factors were not in his mind when he penned that song. But, he was happy that the song was now inspiring many people to get the contact details of their long lost friends and contact them.

Finally, he was asked about the enormous success of the ‘Kolaveri’ song and the standard of lyrics in that particular number. To this he diplomatically answered that he did not wish to make any comment on that matter!

Dhanush makes it to Bollywood

The National Award winning star Dhanush has made it to Bollywood. Yes, he has signed up his first Hindi film. Titled Raanjhnaa, the film will be directed by Tanu Weds Manu fame Anand Rai. On picking Dhanush for the lead role in Raanjhnaa, Anand Rai said that after seeing Aadukalam, he was sure that the star would be the right one to play the protagonist.

The other cast and crew are yet to be finalized, said the director. Raanjhnaa will be a completely different film and the audiences are sure to have a whole new experience.

Reports say that Nayanthara is looking for good roles as she is ready to face the camera. The actress is said to have signed up a film with Nagarjuna in the lead. Dasarath is the director of this film. Nayan is also looking for some good opportunities in Kollywood, say sources.

It was said that she would quit acting and settle for marital bliss with Prabhu Deva. But with the actress accepting a new offer and looking for more, one wonders if the wedding is on cards in the near future.

Sharmishta is central minister Pranab Mukherjee's daughter and has widely performed internationally and across India. Sharmishta's dance performance was held in Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai today.

Kamal was a special invitee at the performance. He joined the front row with Tamil Nadu Governor Rosaiah, Sneha and many other celebrities from all walks of life.

FEFSI and Producers’ Council – tug of war intensifies

 A meeting was convened today by the FEFSI to condemn the Producers’ Council for their caustic remarks. Earlier, the Chairman of the Producers’ Council SA Chandrasekar and others made some caustic remarks about the FEFSI’s decision to revise the pay for the workers as it was done without consulting the Council.

Following this, the FEFSI, headed by Angamthu Shanmugam, G Siva, Rama Durai, director SP Jananathan and Ameer, issued a statement seeking an apology from the Producers’ Council for making such remarks. They also appealed to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to intervene in this issue. Further, there is a request to appoint an IAS officer to steer the film industry.

It was also said on behalf of the FEFSI that the workers will extend support to all the on-going projects but will not take up new films until the issue is resolved.
